We are looking for a motivated, reliable, and team-oriented Eyewear Specialist to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has an eye for detail and style, and is interested in developing their knowledge and career in the optical field. Training is provided for individuals who are eager to learn and grow.
Position Overview
The Eyewear Specialist plays an important role in creating a positive patient experience from the exam room to the optical area. This position works directly with patients to help them select eyewear, understand their lens options, and find products that meet their vision, lifestyle, and budget needs.
The Eyewear Specialist is responsible for providing knowledgeable, personalized service while maintaining accuracy throughout the eyewear ordering and dispensing process.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Experience & Eyewear Sales
- Welcome and assist patients with selecting frames and eyewear.
- Help patients choose lenses, materials, coatings, and other eyewear options based on their prescription, lifestyle, and individual needs.
- Provide personalized recommendations while educating patients on the benefits and differences between products.
- Build positive relationships with patients through professional, friendly, and knowledgeable service.
- Assist patients with eyewear questions and concerns throughout the ordering and dispensing process.
Measurements, Fitting & Dispensing
- Take accurate measurements required for eyewear orders.
- Prepare and process eyewear orders accurately.
- Dispense completed eyewear and ensure proper fit, comfort, and alignment.
- Make adjustments and minor repairs to eyewear as needed.
- Follow established quality and accuracy standards to minimize errors and remakes.
Insurance & Order Management
- Verify vision insurance eligibility and eyewear benefits.
- Explain applicable insurance benefits and patient costs.
- Process eyewear orders and payments accurately.
- Assist with contact lens ordering and follow-up when needed.
- Monitor outstanding orders and communicate with patients regarding order status or pickup.
- Collect co-pays when needed.
Teamwork & Operations
- Work closely with doctors, clinical staff, and other team members to provide a seamless patient experience.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming optical area.
- Stay current on products, lens options, insurance benefits, and optical knowledge.
- Participate in training and cross-training opportunities.
- Assist other team members and locations when needed.
Office Schedule & ExpectationsStandard Office Hours & Arrival Time
- Monday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Arrival 7:50 AM)
- Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Arrival 7:50 AM)
- Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Arrival 7:50 AM – team meeting 8:00–9:00 AM)
- Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Arrival 7:50 AM)
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Arrival 7:50 AM)
- Saturday & Sunday: Closed
Late Night Hours
- One late night per month: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Late nights rotate by location: Brookfield, Carrollton, Chillicothe, Kirksville, and Trenton
Travel Expectations
- Team members may be asked to travel between Premier Eyecare Associates locations to assist with coverage and operational needs when necessary.
