Accounting Specialist (Construction Company)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Specialist. This role is responsible forprocessing vendor invoices, managing payment cycles, and maintaining accurate financial records. Theideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, job costing, attention to details,experience with AR/AP procedures and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Candidates mustbe available to work 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. EST.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive, review, and enter vendor and subcontractor invoices
• Match invoices with purchase orders and contracts
• Ensure proper coding of expenses to jobs, cost codes, and general ledger accounts
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Maintain accurate vendor records, including W-9s and certificates of insurance
• Communicate with vendors, project managers, and other departments to resolve AP issues
• Manage and track lien waivers Assist with month-end closing, including AP accruals Ensure compliance with company policies, contract terms, and accounting procedures

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 2 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite)
• Excel skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Experience in construction industry Familiarity with NetSuite and automated AP processing tools
• Knowledge of GAAP and internal control procedures
