As client-facing professionals, Medical Receptionists play a key role in representing a practice within the community. Duties and responsibilities for this role typically include:
- Greeting patients professionally both in person and on the phone
- Quickly answering or properly referring questions and issues
- Comforting patients by anticipating anxieties and effectively answering questions
- Ensuring availability of treatment information by retrieving and updating patient records
- Verifying financial records and collecting patient charges
- Maintaining office inventory and equipment by anticipating supply needs and expediting supply orders
Reports to:Office Manager
Summary of Responsibilities
Position requires good understanding of an urgent care practice and patient care. Ability to communicate with patients, coworkers and supervisor is critical. Must be willing to take initiative and be a team player.
This job is ideally suited for someone who has in interest in future leadership positions and is interested in learning the check in, check out, and being familiar with billing process. (Third party biller completes actual billing).
List of Responsibilities/Duties
- Check in patients, confirm ID and insurance
- Handle phone calls, make appointments
- Check out patients, collect co-pays, remaining balances
- Coordinate with third party biller if there are outstanding questions
- Attends required meetings.
Minimum Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Minimum Background Requirements
- Previous experience or training in this or similar position.
- Prior experience in medical billing preferred

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
