Job Description
We are currently seeking a Low Voltage Cable Technician to join our team! This is a field-based position working on commercial construction and technology infrastructure projects in a fast-paced environment supporting large-scale commercial installations. This role is ideal for motivated individuals looking to grow with a world-class electrical contractor.
Responsibilities:
- Install, pull, route, and terminate low voltage cabling for commercial projects
- Work with Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, coaxial, and other communication cabling systems
- Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cabling systems
- Install and configure access control systems including door hardware, badge readers, strikes, and control panels
- Install, mount, and service CCTV/security camera systems and related equipment
- Assist with installation and support of structured cabling systems, data racks, patch panels, cable trays, and support systems
- Perform cable testing, labeling, certification, and troubleshooting of low voltage systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, floor plans, and low voltage schematics
- Maintain production quality standards and meet project deadlines
- Assist with material handling, inventory organization, and jobsite cleanliness
- Follow all company safety standards, procedures, and quality control requirements
- Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and installation teams to ensure efficient workflow
Qualifications:
- Previous low voltage, data cabling, telecommunications, or security system experience preferred
- Experience pulling and terminating Cat5/Cat6 cable preferred
- Experience with fiber optic installation, termination, and testing preferred
- Familiarity with CCTV/security systems and access control installations preferred
- Familiarity with low voltage hand tools, power tools, cable testers, and installation equipment
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment
- Reliable attendance and ability to work overtime as needed
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in commercial construction environments
- Must be able to pass a background check and 10-panel drug screen
