As a Chimney Repair Crew Member, you’ll provide general labor support on chimney and masonry repair jobs. You’ll assist with relining, masonry repair, chimney caps, chase covers, flashing, waterproofing, and general site cleanup and organization. We’ll train you on the specific techniques and systems we use—but you should already have basic familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and a willingness to learn.
- Assist in chimney masonry repair tasks (repointing, replacing bricks, patching, parging)
- Help with chimney relining (HeatShield, stainless steel liners, etc.)
- Assist with installation and repair of chimney caps, chase covers, flashing, and other weatherproofing components
- Mix, carry, and apply mortar, sealants, waterproofing products
- Carry tools, materials, and supplies between ground and work area
- Prepare and maintain work areas (drop cloths, scaffolding, safety barriers)
- Clean up debris, haul waste, sweep job site daily
- Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and materials
- Follow safety protocols (fall protection, PPE, ladder safety, etc.)
- Report issues, material needs, or unexpected site conditions to foreman/supervisor
- Be willing to perform related tasks as needed (roof work, assisting lead masons, etc.)
Must-Haves
- Transportation: Reliable vehicle to get to/from job sites in Virginia Beach / Hampton Roads
- Work schedule: Monday–Saturday (weather permitting), hours vary, workload depends on season
- Physical capability: Able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work on roofs, perform physically strenuous tasks
- Basic tool familiarity: Comfortable using hand tools (hammers, chisels, trowels, levels) and power tools (drills, grinders, saws)
- Willingness to learn & take direction on the job
- Good attitude, dependable, punctual, team player
Nice-to-Haves / Preferred
- Some experience in masonry, roofing, general construction
- Understanding of masonry materials (brick, mortar mixes, sealants)
- Basic knowledge of flashing, waterproofing, and metal work
- Some familiarity with CSIA / NFPA guidelines (we’ll provide training)
- Roofing or roof safety experience
- On-the-job training by experienced crew leads
