Grain Originator

Location: South Central Indiana (Columbus, Loogootee, Worthington and surrounding areas)

Premier is looking for a motivated agricultural professional to join our grain team as a Grain Originator. This role works directly with local farmers to build relationships, discuss grain marketing opportunities, monitor market conditions, and help move grain efficiently from farm to market.

Whether you have experience in agronomy, grain operations, farming, agricultural sales, ag lending, or another agriculture-related field, we'll provide training to help you develop the skills needed to succeed in grain marketing and merchandising.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in agriculture while working closely with producers and learning the grain business.

What You'll Do

• Build strong relationships with local farmers and grain customers.
• Meet with producers to discuss grain marketing opportunities and grain contract options.
• Learn grain merchandising practices, market trends, and pricing strategies.
• Monitor grain markets and help identify opportunities for both customers and Premier.
• Assist with grain contracting, pricing programs, and risk management activities.
• Work closely with operations teams to coordinate grain movement and delivery schedules.
• Maintain accurate customer records, contracts, and reports.
• Represent Premier at grower meetings, customer events, and industry activities.
• Deliver exceptional customer service while supporting the growth of Premier's grain business.

What We're Looking For

We're more interested in finding the right person than someone who already knows everything about grain merchandising.

You may be a great fit if you have:

• A background or strong interest in agriculture, agribusiness, farming, grain operations, agronomy, livestock, ag lending, agricultural sales, or a related field.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• An interest in grain markets and producer profitability.
• A desire to learn new skills and grow professionally.
• The ability to work independently and solve problems.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills and comfort working with technology.
• A willingness to travel throughout our service area and meet with producers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business, Agriculture, Sales and Marketing, or a related field.
• Previous experience working with farmers or agricultural customers, or strong desire to do so.
• Experience in grain, agronomy, livestock, farming, ag finance, ag retail, or sales and marketing.

Previous grain merchandising or grain origination experience is not required. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
