Machine Build Technician (Advanced Manufacturing Group)

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for performing machine build duties on new and existing production equipment and automation. This includes mechanical assembly, control system integration, testing and debugging utilizing engineering drawings and schematics. The position requires strong mechanical & electrical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot issues during the build process.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Uses provided mechanical drawings to assemble mechanical structures, assemblies, components, and electro-mechanical components accurately. 

1. Uses a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and shop equipment to fit, align, and secure mechanical components. 

1. Verifies mechanical fits and tolerances, making necessary modifications (drilling, tapping, grinding & filing) to achieve proper function. 

1. Uses provided electrical and pneumatic schematics to build machine control system panels. 

1. Uses provided electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to assemble and integrate control system components. 

1. Assists with PLC programming, HMI development and motor drive configuration along with troubleshooting during equipment startups. 

1. Connects temporary electrical and pneumatic supply lines for equipment startups. 

1. Assists with equipment startups to ensure proper operation and performance. 

1. Uses components manuals and technical level test equipment to troubleshoot and identify faulty components during equipment startups. 

1. Assists with equipment installations, startups, and commissioning as needed. 

1. Documents build processes, changes, and test results as needed. 

1. Receives incoming project components and organizes them in an orderly manner for efficient assembly and to limit search times. 

1. Provides technical direction and work activity instruction to other group members as needed. 

1. Assists plant maintenance as needed. 

1. Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

 Industrial Maintenance certificate/diploma/formal training required
