Milling Operator

SUMMARY:

2nd Shift-Hours M-T 4:00PM to 2:30AM Friday 4:00PM to 12:00 AM

A CNC Mill Operator is required to operate and set up multiple milling tasks on any and all Prefix mills. Both physical parts and made parts will be milled varying in shape, size and material. This position will work to achieve engineering specified tolerances and finishes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understand the needs of Milling customers and work with them to meet their requirements and objectives
• Responsible for the success of each milling task assigned, including on-time delivery and the level of quality.
• Mount and secure specified tooling in spindle
• Assist in the development of milling strategies for each project
• Assist in planning table load with multiple projects, if necessary to gain maximum efficiency for scheduling operations.
• Assist in setting up projects in a manner which maximizes mill uptime.
• Align and secure fixtures and work pieces and check to establish reference points
• Set stops and machine travel
• Maintain mills, tooling and area surrounding mills
  1. Check and maintain all fluid levels
  2. Perform routine maintenance in accordance to manufacturers specifications
  3. Maintain tool inventory and condition of tools
• Provide input on improving operational efficiencies
• Other duties as assigned.

• A background in the CNC machining of various materials including foam, cast iron, and aluminum with a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience or also willing to train. Strong administrative skills required. Ability to coordinate workflow to meet or exceed predetermined timelines and quality levels. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. A certificate from an accredited technical or an industrial trade school is preferred. Need to be a self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time.
