Preferred Tool & Die is a precision stamping and machining company based in Shelton, CT. Family-owned since 2008, we've grown from a small tool and die shop into a full-service manufacturer serving customers across electrical, medical, automotive, hardware, and defense industries. Our campus houses a high-speed stamping facility and a high-tech machining facility, and our capabilities span from concept and design-for-manufacturing through high-volume production — all under one roof.

The Role

Secondary Operators work on the production floor performing the assembly, finishing, and support operations that keep our manufacturing lines running. This includes staking, deburring, inspection, and packaging of precision-stamped metal parts. Work is hands-on, repetitive, and detail-oriented — quality and consistency matter on every part, every shift.

Responsibilities:

• Assembly, staking, deburring, inspection, and packaging operations
• Support press operators and assist with production line operations
• Identify and segregate nonconforming parts; notify supervisor promptly
• Maintain accurate production counts and a clean, organized work area per 5S standards
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements at all times

Qualifications:

• No prior manufacturing experience required — full on-the-job training provided
• Reliable attendance and punctuality — this is essential
• Ability to perform focused, repetitive work consistently throughout a full shift
• Able to stand for full shift and lift up to 40 lbs
• Basic math and counting ability
• High school diploma or GED preferred, not required
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Schedule & Compensation:

• Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
• $18/hour
• Temporary with direct hire consideration after 90 days for strong performers

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
