What are the responsibilities and job description for the iSeries Developer position at Preferred Risk Insurance?
We are seeking the ideal candidate for our iSeries Developer opening for our growing insurance company.
This position will perform development, analysis, and maintenance activities on several key corporate applications. This person will be part of a team that develops and supports AS400 applications. They ideal candidate will be responsible for developing solutions that interact with other platforms. This candidate must be motivated and a self-starter who is able to work independently as well as within a team. This candidate will take a leadership role within the team that will provide guidance and support to other AS/400 Developers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, and maintain iSeries code supporting various applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, creating functional specifications for applications
- Conduct code reviews, perform unit testing, and coordinate with development team members on development and QA tasks
- Implement and maintain development standards and deployment processes and procedures
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Proven experience in full lifecycle delivery of complex systems, including requirements gathering, design, build, test, and deployment
- Strong knowledge of relevant development environments, protocols, and programming languages associated with iSeries, including RPG, CL, SQL, COBOL, and Java
- Understanding of Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance principles and practices
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field preferred
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders

Estimated Compensation Range: $90,000/year-$120,000/year*
*Published ranges are estimates. Offered compensation will be based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location. In addition, starting salary may vary by position depending on whether the position is in-office, hybrid or remote.
