What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at Preferred Powder Coating?
Position Summary
Performs tasks necessary to ensure customer parts are properly prepared, processed, and packaged according to specifications. Serves as a leader in training and empowering team members while maintaining strong communication with both customers and internal staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Operations Manager.
- Oversee inspection of in-process and finished parts to ensure conformity with specifications, including inspection records, processes, prints, engineering sketches, and related documentation (N Line, S Line, Assembly, and Batch).
- Interact with and educate shop personnel on quality processes and procedures, including training team members to maximize performance and development.
- Assist in the creation, review, and continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
- Support the evaluation and communication of customer complaints, including:
- Managing RMA-related action items
- Identifying root causes
- Assisting with corrective actions
- Monitoring and responding to the group quality mailbox
- Enforce ISO 9001:2015 standards and the company Quality Manual; assist with internal and external audits.
- Demonstrate expertise in using paint quality testing equipment to ensure compliance with standards, including:
- Spectrophotometer
- Paint thickness gauge
- Adhesion testing tools
- Pencil hardness tester
- Impact tester
- Mandrel bend tester
- Quarantine nonconforming parts prior to shipment by:
- Tagging rejected items
- Assisting in rework and/or final disposition
- Read and interpret blueprints; utilize measuring tools such as dial calipers and gauges.
- Assist with production support tasks including hanging, plugging, masking, and packaging parts as needed.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with customers and employees, demonstrating confidence, clarity, and a solutions-oriented approach when addressing nonconforming parts.
- Provide daily customer quality support by managing the quality email inbox and reviewing feedback to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Empower team members by developing their confidence, product knowledge, and communication skills.
- Contribute as a key member of the shop by supporting quality, safety, housekeeping, and overall operational efficiency.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
