Preferred Care at Absecon is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Tech to support the Maintenance Director in overseeing the maintenance and safety operations of our nursing home facility. The ideal candidate will ensure the environment is clean, safe, and fully operational for residents, staff, and visitors, in accordance with all state and federal regulations.

- Assist in planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the maintenance department.
- Perform hands-on maintenance duties including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and carpentry tasks.
- Help ensure the facility, equipment, and grounds are maintained in a safe and operable condition.
- Support in developing and implementing preventative maintenance schedules.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including Department of Health and OSHA standards.
- Participate in safety inspections, fire drills, and emergency preparedness programs.
- Maintain documentation and records of all maintenance work performed.
- Assist with vendor coordination and contractor supervision as needed.
- Be on-call for maintenance emergencies, including evenings, weekends, or holidays.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade certification preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
- Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with safety and compliance regulations in healthcare environments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and safety codes.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facilities.
- Bilingual (Spanish or another language) is a plus.
- Basic computer proficiency for work order systems and documentation.
- May be exposed to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and occasional outdoor weather conditions.
- Must be able to respond to after-hours calls and emergencies.
