What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Pork Production Nursery Technician position at Preferred Capital Management?
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of the Nursery Technician is to perform the daily operation and activities performed in the Nursery Department.
REQUIREMENTS:
– High school graduate preferred.
– Dependable, proven problem solving, organizational and time management skills; proven skills in effective communication. Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs with reasonable accommodation.
– Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors most of the day. Ability to lift live pigs weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to assist in moving dead animals, 400 pounds. Ability to handle (move by pushing or herding) adult pigs, pounds. Ability to kneel and bend at waist for long periods of time. Ability to tolerate dust, animal dander, odors and noise. (Particle masks and ear protection are provided.)
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc.
Must treat all animals in a humane manner, animal abuse will NOT be tolerated.
Follow bio-security protocol.
Ensure barn cleanliness, specifically nursery rooms and hallways.
Ensure and follow the highest level of a safe work environment and work practices.
Assist Site Manager with all aspects of the Nursery department.
Preparation of rooms (washing and set up)
-Treat and vaccinate pigs as directed
Make sure pigs are fed properly.
Assist with recording and maintaining accurate records and documentation
Assist with the weaning of the piglets (at sow unit) when needed.
Count rooms and prepare for shipments.
And any other task necessary in this department.
Perform simple maintenance and cleaning tasks as assigned.
Observe and be aware of ventilation, environment, etc.
Notify Site Manager of any concerns or problems.
Communicates with Site Manager regularly.
Continuing education / development:
Seeks to learn and further develop skills.
Develops personal goals and mission.
Presents professional image of the farm and PCM
PQA Level III certified
