We are currently seeking a Resimene Process Operator for our Springfield chemical manufacturing plant that operates 24/7, 365 days/year. This is a 4-day on/4-day off schedule with alternating 12-hour day and night shifts. Every Operator works the day and night alternating schedule, including holidays and weekends.

The Resimene Process Operator is responsible for unloading raw materials, operating the reaction kettles, distillation columns and downstream filtration systems and associated equipment using computer and manual controls to produce resin liquids, recover liquid raw materials, and refine the kettle product to finished quality resin. Operations include start-up, shut-down, lock out, maintenance and non-routine processes. Operators monitor and maintain the production process to ensure correct operating conditions, using control room computer systems; physically monitor and sample tanks, columns and kettles to determine critical process adjustments; troubleshoot abnormal situations and take corrective action. The Operator also is responsible for transferring the finished resin into storage tanks, drums, bulk containers and tank trucks. Operators control the transfer of various bulk materials into or out of tanks trucks, railcars, etc., using valves, pumps, pipelines and conveying equipment. The Operator enters production quantities into the SAP computer system to ensure inventories are accurate; and uses SAP to enter notifications for required maintenance work and shipment data. The Operator is accountable for following all plant and process safety rules and procedures and completing periodic mandatory training. Operators carry out housekeeping and maintenance duties as assigned.

Physical requirements necessary to perform essential functions of the job

Perform heavy work including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, climb ladders and stairs, exposure to chemicals, must have the ability to safely wear a respirator, work in outdoor conditions year-round, use hand tools, operate valves, pumps, pipelines and conveying equipment, work at heights, inspect trucks, use hand trucks, receive detailed instructions orally and in writing, monitor and manage chemical processes through computer terminals, operate motor vehicles and fork lift trucks.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience

  • Proficiency in oral and written English language skills; High School Degree or GED preferred but not required
  • Willing and able to work in 24/7/365 manufacturing operation (requires working nights, weekends, holidays)
  • Maintain strong focus on Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) principles
  • Ability to follow and monitor prescribed processes; experience in Distribution Control Systems a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, able to prioritize work assignments with minimal supervision
  • Computer skills, including email; High degree of initiative, and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to work effectively in team based environment
  • Previous chemical operator experience is a plus
  • Previous quality control lab and testing experience is a plus
