Predator Software is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to support the design, integration, analysis, and verification of complex missile defense systems. This position offers the opportunity to work directly on challenging national defense problems while helping shape the digital engineering capabilities that drive next-generation system development.

The ideal candidate is an experienced systems engineer with strong SysML and Cameo expertise who enjoys building models that improve system understanding, support engineering decisions, and connect architecture development with modeling and simulation efforts.

About Predator Software

Founded in 1997 in Huntsville, Alabama, Predator Software is a family-owned company that delivers dependable solutions for complex defense systems. We are known for meeting compressed schedules without sacrificing quality and for providing exceptional value through lean, highly technical teams. Our employees work closely with customers, make meaningful technical contributions, and have the opportunity to influence programs directly rather than becoming one contributor among hundreds.

Our long-term focus on employee retention and technical excellence means customers work with the same trusted engineers year after year, resulting in deep domain expertise and consistent mission success.

What You'll Do

As a Model-Based Systems Engineer, you will apply MBSE principles and digital engineering methodologies to develop and maintain models representing missile defense system components, architectures, interfaces, and system behaviors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain SysML models using Cameo/MagicDraw.
  • Create and evolve system architectures for complex defense systems and systems-of-systems.
  • Integrate subsystem models into larger enterprise and mission-level architectures.
  • Work closely with modeling and simulation teams to establish dependencies and interfaces between MBSE models and system simulations.
  • Define, document, and manage system interfaces and interconnections.
  • Perform trade studies and engineering analyses using model-based approaches.
  • Translate requirements into model elements and maintain traceability throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Validate model behavior against system performance and simulation results.
  • Support integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Develop scripts, utilities, and interfaces that improve model usability and automate engineering workflows.
  • Participate in technical reviews, customer briefings, and engineering working groups.
  • Assist in developing modeling standards, best practices, and digital engineering processes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help grow MBSE capabilities across the organization.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional experience performing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Strong experience with SysML.
  • Strong experience using Cameo/MagicDraw.
  • Experience developing system architectures and engineering models for complex systems.
  • Experience with requirements analysis, verification, and validation activities.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to interdisciplinary teams and customers.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Huntsville, Alabama.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Missile defense experience.
  • Experience modeling systems-of-systems architectures.
  • Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency programs or other large defense programs.
  • Experience with Modeling & Simulation (M&S) environments.
  • Experience interfacing MBSE models with simulations, analyses, or digital engineering tools.
  • Experience with software development, scripting, and automation.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar languages.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based development environments.
  • Experience with configuration management and version control tools such as Git.
  • Experience supporting digital engineering initiatives.
What Makes You Successful
  • You understand how to use models as engineering tools, not just documentation artifacts.
  • You can connect requirements, behaviors, interfaces, and architectures into a coherent digital representation of a system.
  • You enjoy working across systems engineering, software, and modeling disciplines.
  • You are comfortable operating in a highly technical, fast-paced environment where your contributions have direct impact.
