Role Description The Marine Construction Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Chesapeake, VA. This role is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for marine and waterfront construction projects, including reviewing project plans, specifications, and addenda to identify scope and requirements. Day-to-day tasks include performing quantity take-offs, analyzing subcontractor and vendor quotes, and developing clear, comprehensive bids and proposals. The estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to validate assumptions, refine budgets, and support value-engineering and constructability reviews. Additional responsibilities include maintaining current pricing data, tracking historical cost information, assisting with change order pricing, and participating in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.

Qualifications
- Strong marine Construction Estimating skills, with experience preparing competitive bids and detailed proposals for heavy and waterfront construction projects.
- Proficiency in Quantity Take-offs using drawings, specifications, and digital tools to develop accurate material and labor quantities.
- Demonstrated Cost Management and Budgeting abilities, including developing, tracking, and refining project budgets and supporting change order pricing.
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, vendors, subcontractors, and clients, both in writing and in person.
- Experience with estimating or construction management software and proficiency in MS Excel or similar tools.
- Familiarity with marine construction methods, equipment, and safety and environmental considerations is strongly preferred.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
