Precix
New Bedford, MA Full Time
POSTED ON 10/27/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/24/2027
Summary

Precix makes precision rubber sealing products in New Bedford, Massachusetts, with roughly 350 employees, most of them hourly production staff. We're looking for a hands-on HR Manager to run HR for the site.

You'll handle the full employee lifecycle: hiring, payroll approval, leaves, investigations, discipline, and terminations. You'll also coach supervisors, lead a small HR team, and keep the site compliant with Massachusetts and federal law.

This is a working manager role. You'll be on the floor regularly, you'll partner with our corporate HR and finance teams, and you'll help shape how HR runs across a growing multi-entity group.

What you'll own

Employee relations and compliance

  • Lead workplace investigations and recommend outcomes to management.
  • Review and approve disciplinary actions with supervisors; run terminations.
  • Administer the attendance policy and keep policies and the employee handbook current with annual legal review.
  • Represent the company at unemployment hearings, working with our PEO partner.
  • Complete required annual filings, including OSHA 300A and EEO-1.
  • Coordinate immigration and visa support with outside counsel.

Payroll, compensation, and performance

  • Approve weekly payroll and process pay changes, increases, and retroactive adjustments.
  • Run the quarterly hourly bonus program, from collecting performance ratings through payroll.
  • Own the annual review process for hourly and salaried staff, including salaried goal-setting and sign-off.
  • Review promotions, job bids, and awards.
  • Build the annual payroll and HR department budgets with finance.

Leaves, benefits, and claims

  • Oversee leaves of absence under FMLA and Massachusetts PFML.
  • Manage workers' compensation leaves and return-to-work with our PEO partner.
  • Support open enrollment and benefits questions on-site, working with corporate HR.

Talent and development

  • Partner with hiring managers and agencies on salaried recruiting.
  • Coordinate state-funded training grants, including scheduling, reporting, and reimbursement.
  • Support job description and org-structure work with leadership.

Safety and culture

  • Co-chair the Safety Committee: agendas, minutes, action tracking, and training.
  • Run employee recognition, service awards, and site events.

Reporting and team leadership

  • Produce monthly HR metrics for the executive team and parent company, including headcount and turnover.
  • Hire, train, and lead the HR team; set priorities and review work.
  • Manage HR vendors (PEO, benefits, retirement plan, staffing agencies) and negotiate contracts.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years managing HR for a site or business unit.
  • Manufacturing or other hourly-workforce experience.
  • Working knowledge of Massachusetts and federal employment law: FMLA, MA PFML, the MA Wage Act, earned sick time, and wage-and-hour rules.
  • Hands-on experience running investigations, discipline, and terminations.
  • Experience with an HRIS and payroll system (isolved, ADP, or similar).
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort building budgets and monthly reports.
  • Sound judgment and strict confidentiality.

Preferred

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
  • Experience working within a PEO co-employment model.
  • Experience with Massachusetts training grants (Workforce Training Fund or similar).
  • Experience supporting employment-based visas.
  • Safety committee or OSHA recordkeeping experience.
  • Experience in a multi-entity or international parent-company setting.

Work environment and physical demands
  • Production areas have noise, varying temperatures, and rubber and chemical odors. Safety glasses and hearing protection are required there.
  • Mostly seated computer and phone work; walking the facility up to two-thirds of the day.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional local travel by car.
