Position Summary

The Die Setter assembles tooling and sets up presses and other manufacturing equipment needed to produce, trim, size, and finish drawn metal enclosures and stampings while supporting production, quality, and safety goals.

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday (5:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

First Key Responsibility

  • Tooling and equipment set up
  • Assemble and install the necessary tooling and set up shop floor equipment, presses, or other manufacturing equipment needed to meet the production schedule.
  • Check tooling for accuracy, fit, sharpness, and print specifications before production begins.
  • Perform first-piece inspection by checking height, I.D., O.D., wall thickness, finish, and other criteria specified in shop orders or special instructions.

Second Key Responsibilities

  • Production support and process improvement
  • Provide support to press operators and other production personnel whenever quality or production problems occur.
  • Operate the shop-floor production control system and help maintain accurate records for raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods; run presses in the absence of operators as needed.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures and participate in continuous improvement processes individually and with teams to improve cost, quality, and delivery.

Non-essential Responsibilities

Skills And Abilities

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

One year in mechanical disciplines related to die setting or one year of die setter experience preferred. Lean manufacturing experience preferred. Experience in the deep draw metal stamping industry preferred.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings, use die setter tools and measuring devices, troubleshoot equipment and production problems, and understand manufacturing processes.

Strong communication, problem-solving ability, lean mindset, safety focus, and the ability to work effectively with others to resolve production issues.

Work Environment

This position involves working in a manufacturing environment that is adjacent to the shop work environment. The employee must be aware of potential hazards, including, but not limited to, working in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, operating vehicles, exposure to electrical current, high temperatures, and chemicals. It's important to maintain a high level of alertness and caution while performing tasks in this work environment.

Salary Description

$18.00 to $21.00 per hour (pending experience)
