Position Summary
The Field Supervisor oversees daily field operations for underground utility construction projects, ensuring that crews perform work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with specifications. This role acts as the link between field staff, project management, and clients, providing leadership, problem-solving, and quality control in a fast-paced construction environment. The Field Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining safety compliance, meeting project deadlines, and delivering high-quality service to clients.
Employees must maintain compliance with all company policies, federal and state labor laws, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Affirmative Action Program requirements.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Operate construction equipment/vehicles safely in compliance with DOT regulations (49 CFR Part 391 and related rules).
- Perform construction-related duties such as underground utility installation, excavation, and fiber installation.
- Supervise and coordinate field crews to ensure productivity, safety, and adherence to project plans.
- Conduct job site inspections to verify work quality, compliance with specifications, and use of proper safety practices.
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports (DOT driver logs, daily equipment inspections, OSHA safety reports, etc.).
- Provide on-site training, coaching, and guidance to crew members.
- Communicate project progress, issues, and needs with project managers and leadership.
- Ensure that all field operations follow established timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Adhere to all site safety protocols and report hazards immediately.
- Attend and complete mandatory OSHA, safety, and compliance training.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA requirements.
- Familiarity with DOT and CDL driver qualification requirements.
- Ability to lead crews, resolve conflicts, and motivate employees in the field.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for interacting with field staff, management, clients, and inspectors.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and job specifications.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow company compliance policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL required for applicable positions.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical (if applicable).
- 3 years of construction or utility industry experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
- Proven track record of working safely and ensuring team compliance with OSHA standards.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, standing, walking, and operating heavy equipment.
- Must be able to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by OSHA.
- Work may involve extended hours and overtime as projects demand.

Employment with Precision Underground Utilities LLC is at-will unless otherwise specified in a written agreement signed by both the employee and Precision Underground Utilities LLC.
