Compensation & Benefits: The anticipated pay range for this position is $19.00/per hour - $27.00/per hour. Precision Underground also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and other benefits.


Position Summary

Be a key player on a team that builds essential infrastructure from the ground up. As a Laborer for underground utility installation, you bring energy, strength, and focus to the job every day. You’ll support the crew with hands-on tasks that keep projects running smoothly working outdoors, operating tools, and helping place critical utilities like water, gas, sewer, electric, and fiber. This is meaningful, high-impact work where you see the results of your effort every day.

Employees must maintain compliance with all company policies, federal and state labor laws, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Affirmative Action Program requirements.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

·       Assist with the installation of underground utility lines, including trenching, pipe placement, backfilling, and site restoration.

·        Use hand and power tools to support excavation, pipe alignment, and material handling.

·        Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored and accessible.

·        Support operators and foremen with setup and breakdown of job sites and safety barriers.

·        Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

·        Work in outdoor conditions including heat, cold, rain, or snow ready to take on any challenge.

·        Lift and carry heavy materials 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, digging, climbing, and standing for extended periods.

·        Take pride in every task, large or small, knowing your work keeps projects moving and communities connected.

·        Show up ready to work, contribute to a positive team environment, and keep safety a top priority.

·        Operate construction equipment/vehicles safely in compliance with DOT regulations (49 CFR Part 391 and related rules).

·        Perform construction-related duties such as underground utility installation, excavation, and fiber installation.

·        Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports (DOT driver logs, daily equipment inspections, OSHA safety reports, etc.).

·        Adhere to all site safety protocols and report hazards immediately.

·        Attend and complete mandatory OSHA, safety, and compliance training.

·        Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Prior experience in construction, utility installation, or manual labor.
  • OSHA, trench safety, or confined space training.
  • Familiarity with underground utilities or general excavation work.

·        Knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA requirements.

·        Familiarity with DOT and CDL driver qualification requirements.

·        Strong communication and teamwork skills.

·        Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow company compliance policies.


Minimum Qualifications

·        High school diploma or equivalent required.

·        Valid driver’s license; CDL required for applicable positions.

·        Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical (if applicable).

·        Prior construction or utility industry experience preferred.

  • Willingness to work hard, learn new skills, and follow instructions closely.
  • Ability to work 50–60 hours per week during peak season and 30–40 hours in off-season.
  • Must be physically fit and ready to lift, dig, and move materials daily.
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment and in all weather conditions.
  • Commitment to safety and a strong work ethic.
  • Willing to sign and comply with a company confidentiality agreement (NDA).


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

·        Work is performed outdoors in variable weather conditions.

·        Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, standing, walking, and operating heavy equipment.

·        Must be able to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by OSHA.

Employment with Precision Underground Utilities LLC is at-will unless otherwise specified in a written agreement signed by both the employee and Precision Underground Utilities LLC. This means that either the employee or Precision Underground Utilities LLC may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice, in compliance with applicable law.
