Must have at least two years' experience.
Hospital experience preferred and laboratory experience.

Job Summary:

The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood collection and specimen processing procedures with accuracy, efficiency, and compassion. This role supports laboratory operations during night shifts, ensuring timely and high-quality specimen collection and processing in compliance with established policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Perform venipuncture, capillary, and arterial collections on patients of all age groups.
• Accurately label, handle, and transport specimens to ensure integrity for testing.
• Verify patient identification and maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
• Maintain phlebotomy supplies and equipment; report any malfunctions or shortages.
• Follow infection control, biohazard, and safety guidelines at all times.
• Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and lab personnel.
• Prioritize STAT and emergency collections as needed.
• Enter patient and specimen data accurately into the laboratory information system (LIS).
• Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
• Current Phlebotomy Certification (CPT I or CPT II, as applicable)
• Phlebotomy experience preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during night shifts.
