Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards such as GAAP. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a strong understanding of financial concepts, including double entry bookkeeping and general ledger management. The Bookkeeper will support both corporate and non-profit accounting functions, contributing to the preparation of financial reports and supporting budgeting processes. Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Record journal entries accurately, including debits & credits, and maintain detailed documentation for audit purposes
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings in compliance with governmental regulations
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities and resolve issues promptly
- Support budgeting activities by tracking expenses and revenue against forecasts
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role with proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Quicken
- Strong understanding of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, GAAP, and governmental accounting if applicable
- Experience with bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, journal entries, general ledger accounting, and balance sheet reconciliation
- Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable processes, payroll management, tax experience, and financial report writing
- Familiarity with technical accounting concepts such as account analysis and budget management
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail; proficiency in 10 key typing is preferred
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities effectively
- Strong analytical skills combined with good communication skills to explain complex financial data clearly
