About the Role:

The Medical Assistant at our Laurel Office plays a crucial role in supporting the healthcare team by ensuring that patients receive high-quality care in a timely manner. This position involves a combination of clinical and administrative tasks that are essential for the smooth operation of our orthopedic practice. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing patients for examinations, assisting physicians during procedures, and managing patient records. By effectively communicating with patients and healthcare providers, the Medical Assistant helps to create a positive and efficient healthcare experience. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall goal of improving patient outcomes and satisfaction in our orthopedic services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent training.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  • Experience in an orthopedic setting is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Previous experience in a patient-facing role within a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, medical histories, and assisting with physical examinations.
  • Assist physicians during orthopedic procedures and ensure that the examination rooms are properly stocked and maintained.
  • Manage patient records, including scheduling appointments, processing insurance claims, and maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
  • Educate patients on orthopedic care, including post-operative instructions and rehabilitation exercises.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and address any patient concerns or questions.

Skills:

The required skills in orthopedics are utilized daily as the Medical Assistant prepares patients for examinations and assists during procedures, ensuring that all orthopedic protocols are followed. Strong communication skills are essential for educating patients about their care and addressing any concerns they may have. Organizational skills are critical for managing patient records and scheduling appointments efficiently. Attention to detail is necessary when documenting patient information and processing insurance claims. Additionally, the preferred skills, such as familiarity with EHR systems, enhance the Medical Assistant's ability to streamline administrative tasks and improve overall patient care.
