The Regional Director of Membership and Engagement acts as the regional executive and bridge between the national organization and local districts or members. They oversee district operations, drive membership growth, advocate for industry policies, and ensure that localized programs align with the overarching strategic goals of the national association. In addition, they provide sales leads for products and services provided through PMA Services, Inc. and PMA’s workforce development products and services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision: Develop and implement annual membership plans, strategies and campaigns to meet or exceed retention and recruitment goals. Be an active strategic planning team member in defining the organization’s future direction, priorities and actions to ensure long-term success. Team members collaborate to analyze the current market position (using tools such as SWOT analysis); set actionable, measurable (SMART) goals; and allocate resources efficiently to achieve the organization’s vision and mission.
  • Recruitment and Retention: Develop and execute national and regional strategies to recruit new members, engage existing ones and reduce resignations.
  • Liaison: Act as the direct contact between the district membership and the association’s executive management team, briefing the executive team on local industry issues.
  • Engagement: Build strong relationships with new and existing members by regularly attending district, national and other industry events as well as visiting member facilities to foster a sense of community and loyalty and boost retention.
  • Service: Act as the primary point of contact for district member inquiries, addressing concerns and enhancing overall satisfaction. Oversee and mentor local area district officers. Assist with the formation of new local districts and ensure all districts align with the association’s mission.
  • Event Administration: Manage event portfolio, event strategy and long-term direction of district meetings, conferences and seminars in connection with district volunteers.
  • Marketing & Communications: Assist the marketing team with the development of marketing materials, social media content and communication campaigns to promote membership benefits and services.
  • Data & Reporting: Analyze district member trends and data and prepare regular reports on membership metrics for executive leadership.
  • Operations & Budget: Oversee the district’s budget, ensuring all financial operations comply with association policies and reporting requirements.
  • Governance: Ensure local districts comply with the association’s bylaws, code of ethics and national strategic goals.
  •  Communications: Ensure that national directives, industry updates and value propositions are clearly communicated to regional members
  • Cross-Functional Coverage: Serve as primary backup for the other Regional Director of Membership and Engagement, and Exhibition Sales Manager during absences.
  • Additional Sales Duties: Develop and execute regional sales strategies for referrals for PMA Services, Inc. products and services and PMA workforce development services to members and potential members within the district.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 7–10 years of experience in membership management, sales or customer relations.
  • Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM or membership database software.
  • Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Abilities: Proven ability to analyze data and make strategic recommendations. 
  • Accountability: Holds self and others accountable to meet commitments.
  • Organization: The ability to multitask, manage budgets and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to work at a desk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to [20-40] pounds occasionally.
  • Requires standing and walking.
  • Requires frequent travel.
