Shipyard Laborer

Job Summary

We are looking for dependable, hardworking Shipyard Laborers to support our marine and ship repair operations. This is a hands-on position working aboard vessels, in shipyards, and at government/military facilities.

The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-minded, willing to work in a physically demanding environment, and able to follow direction from supervisors and skilled tradesmen.

Responsibilities

  • Assist welders, fitters, machinists, mechanics, and other skilled trades as needed.
  • Carry, move, stage, and organize tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Perform general cleanup and maintain clean and safe work areas.
  • Assist with equipment setup and breakdown.
  • Perform basic material handling and general labor duties.
  • Use basic hand and power tools when properly trained.
  • Work aboard ships, in shipyards, dry docks, industrial facilities, and military installations.
  • Climb ladders and stairs and work in tight or confined areas when required.
  • Follow all company, shipyard, OSHA, and customer safety requirements.
  • Wear required PPE at all times.
  • Report to work on time and ready to work for all scheduled shifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain DBIDS credentials for access to U.S. military installations.
  • Must have dependable transportation to and from shipyards, military bases, and assigned job sites.
  • Must be dependable and have reliable attendance.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to work safely around active shipyard and industrial operations.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable climbing ladders, using stairs, bending, kneeling, standing for extended periods, and working aboard vessels.
  • Must be willing to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and varying shifts when project schedules require it.
  • Must comply with company and customer drug-free workplace and safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous shipyard, construction, industrial, mechanical, or general labor experience is preferred but not required.
  • Current DBIDS credential is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 Maritime or OSHA 10 Construction is a plus.
  • Familiarity with basic hand and power tools is a plus.
  • Previous experience working aboard U.S. Navy or commercial vessels is a plus.

What We're Looking For

Experience is helpful, but dependability and work ethic are more important for this position. We are looking for people who show up on time, work safely, listen to direction, and are willing to learn.

This position can provide an opportunity for the right individual to gain shipyard experience and potentially advance into skilled trades such as welding, shipfitting, outside machining, mechanical work, or other marine trades.

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
