Automation PLC/SCADA Engineer
Contract – NJ
Shift: 2nd or 3rd shift (evenings or nights)
Overview
Seeking a hands-on Automation/Controls Engineer to support pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate has a strong PLC/SCADA background within a GMP pharmaceutical environment and is comfortable troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment on the production floor. This is a mid-level opportunity for someone with a solid engineering foundation who is still technically hands-on and interested in continuing to learn.
Background
- 4–10 years of pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical automation experience
- Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing automation and controls systems
- Strong experience with PLC and SCADA systems, particularly Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens
- Experience troubleshooting across PLC, HMI/SCADA, instrumentation, electrical, software, and industrial networking
- Experience in GMP/cGMP manufacturing environments
- Background supporting equipment integration, commissioning, FAT/SAT, qualification, or capital projects
- Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience with sterile manufacturing or filling lines is highly preferred
Requirements
- 4–10 years of relevant pharmaceutical automation/controls experience
- Strong PLC programming/troubleshooting experience
- Strong SCADA/HMI experience (Ignition, iFix, WinCC, etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve automation issues on manufacturing equipment
- Working knowledge of GMP, automation validation, change control, investigations, and data integrity
- Experience with industrial networking and automation communication protocols is preferred
- Must be technically hands-on
