What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician - Second Shift position at Precision Fabrics Group Inc?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform major plant equipment mechanical and electrical repair, along with assisting others in repairs.- Fabricate, weld, and cut material, install and repair pipe as needed, and use hand tools and power tools as required.
- Understand plant electrical systems, repair all electrical equipment within plant by testing and inspecting for failures.
- Size electrical wire, breakers, and disconnects for proper amperage loads, and install conduit and wiring.
- Install, clean, repair, replace, assemble, and lubricate mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical equipment to determine extent of damage and nature of repairs required.
- Perform preventive maintenance on major pieces of equipment.
- Understand the principles of operation of plant equipment and machinery, suggest the best means of making repairs to minimize interruption of production, diagnose and correct complex machine issues, and generate detailed plans or working procedures and make sketches as required, and adjust equipment for optimal operation.
- Execute work orders and complete documentation as required, determine, calculate, and order materials needed for a job.
- Effectively communicate job status to maintenance coworkers and other business unit associates as needed and accurately account for spare parts used and document parts consumed.
- Work safely; follow lock-out tag-out procedures, understand and use barriers to keep work areas safe, keep work areas neat and clean, wear required and personal protective equipment for all job tasks, take proper precaution when working overhead to protect associates and equipment below, follow proper forklift and scissors lift operation, and correct ladder use procedures.
- Assist and educate more junior maintenance associates and must work well with other associates.
- Perform other work as requested by supervisor and manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7 plus years of maintenance experience
- Self-motivated, with exceptional follow-through.
- Industrial truck license will be required.
- Must read/write sufficiently to successfully complete job training requirements and effectively handle computer operation, work order system, material requisitions and understand written job requirements.
- High school diploma/equivalent required.
- Additional training/degree desired.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/VISUAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This job is conducted in a manufacturing setting and office environment.
- Work involves frequent standing and moving, climbing of various ladders throughout the 8 hour shift, and infrequent sitting. Must have ability to bend, kneel, and reach.
- Must have 20/40 corrected vision and normal color vision.
- Must be able to lift 50 to 100 lbs. occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and 10 to 20 lbs. constantly.
- Must be able to exert up to 50 - 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or, 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly.
- Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Must pass all physical and vision tests performed by Cone Occupational Health (PCP score = 4)
- Must wear all necessary safety protective equipment per job task and SDS.
- Must have the ability to climb and perform work on ladders and scissors lift.
- Nosie level is monitored through a hearing conservation program
- Responsibilities may occasionally require adjusted work schedules and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines.
