Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optometry, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service in a retail environment. As an Optician, you will be responsible for assisting patients in selecting eyewear, fitting glasses and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Your expertise in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and retail sales will be essential in delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescription and lifestyle needs
• Fit glasses accurately, ensuring comfort and proper alignment
• Maintain patient records while adhering to HIPAA regulations
• Utilize EMR systems, for managing patient information
• Perform laboratory tasks such as lens edging and adjustments when necessary
• Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage
• Collaborate with optometrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
• Handle retail sales transactions efficiently, applying knowledge of retail math
• Provide support in pediatrics by assisting young patients with their eyewear needs

Experience

Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

• Strong background in optometry with optical experience preferred
• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology knowledge
• Experience with medical coding, billing, and records management is advantageous
• Previous experience in retail sales or retail management is highly desirable
