Position Overview
Precision Engineering is seeking an experienced Construction Materials Testing / Laboratory Project Manager to support and coordinate our growing testing and inspection workload.
This role focuses on project management, laboratory oversight, field coordination, reporting workflows, and quality control related to soils and concrete testing on municipal and infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate has hands-on testing experience and is ready to step into a more organized, leadership-oriented role without the pressure of sales or business development responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily laboratory testing activities (soils and concrete)
- Coordinate schedules and workloads for field technicians
- Review testing data and reports prior to engineer review
- Maintain QA/QC procedures and documentation
- Support project managers with testing scope and deliverables
- Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, and applicable standards
- Assist with internal process improvements and standardization
- Support the Civil Department with scheduling geotechnical services.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in construction materials testing or geotechnical testing
- Experience overseeing or coordinating laboratory operations
- Familiarity with soils testing and concrete testing procedures
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- ACI certification preferred
- ICC certifications a plus
- Engineering degree is helpful but not required
- PE license not required
