As a Cutting Operator at PEG, you’ll be hands-on with high-precision glass and quartz components ensuring every part meets detailed customer specifications. You’ll be responsible for operating cutting equipment, reading job packets and blueprints, verifying dimensions with gauging tools, and maintaining accurate production records. Summary/ Objective
Cutting operator performs assigned tasks in accordance with job specifications, drawings, PEG’s Quality Control Inspection Procedures (QCIPs), and customer criteria.
This position reports directly to the department unit leader.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
Perform cutting tasks such as wet cutting, hot cutting, loading and unloading lehrs
Assist the unit leader in basic troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve quality issues promptly.
Use gauging equipment to verify parts meet dimensional specifications throughout the manufacturing process.
Read and interpret job packets, drawings, and blueprints to follow proper procedures.
Complete all required production documentation accurately, including travelers, charts, and ID cards.
Accurately scan jobs in and out and enter production data using Visual Manufacturing/Shop Floor Mobile.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned to support part quality and departmental workflow.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to perform the duties of the job.
Ability to read, interpret, and employ work order travelers and prints.
Ability to read, interpret, and employ all measuring devices related to the operation (micrometers, calipers, tape measure, ruler, dial indicator, etc.).
Possesses computer skills necessary to operate manufacturing software.
Possesses mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
Possesses problem-solving, active listening, critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
Ability to keep close attention to detail.
Ability to interpret and follow specifications for each product being made in accordance with the appropriate job package.

While performing the duties of this job the employee will be standing for extended periods of time and is regularly required to talk, listen, and hear. The employee is frequently required to bend, squat, sit, stand, walk, push/ pull, handle objects (manual dexterity), and reach above shoulder level. The employee must carry/ lift loads up to 40 lbs
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently around moving machinery, marked changes in temperature, humidity, dust, fumes, gases, and open flames.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
