Precision Garage Door Service is hiring a Gate Technician Apprentice/Trainee to support our growing gate installation and service work in the Baton Rouge area.

This is a hands-on field position for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, safety-minded, and interested in learning the gate service and installation trade. The right candidate will assist with installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing residential and commercial gate systems, access control equipment, and related hardware.

Compensation

Training pay: $15.00–$18.00 per hour, depending on experience.

After successful completion of training, compensation transitions to a commission-based structure, with anticipated first-year earning potential of $60,000–$80,000 based on performance, completed work, and business volume.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with installing and servicing gate systems, gate operators, access control equipment, telephone entry systems, card readers, keypads, and related hardware.
• Use hand tools and power tools to complete installation and service work.
• Assist with trenching, pulling wire, saw cutting asphalt or concrete, mixing concrete, digging holes, welding, installing angle iron track, hanging gates, and patching concrete or asphalt.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair gate and access control equipment in the field.
• Read basic blueprints, schematics, and job instructions to help determine work procedures.
• Test installed gates and equipment for proper operation and safety.
• Communicate professionally with customers, managers, support staff, vendors, and other team members.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work vehicle and handle company property and equipment responsibly.
• Complete work orders, job notes, as-built information, and other required company documentation.

What We’re Looking For

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn the gate installation and service trade.
• Experience with automatic gates, welding, fabrication, electrical, low-voltage work, garage doors, construction, access control, or similar field work is helpful but not required.
• Ability to work safely around tools, equipment, vehicles, electrical components, concrete, asphalt, and jobsite conditions.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently once trained while keeping leadership and support staff informed of job progress.
• Ability to lift 80 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record in accordance with company standards.
• Ability to travel locally and occasionally outside the immediate area if business needs require.
