What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at Precision Die & Stamping, Inc?
Overview
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing detailed sampling and validation of production parts and incoming raw materials to ensure compliance with internal specifications and customer requirements. Using precision measurement instruments including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other metrology tools, you will evaluate dimensional and visual characteristics of stamped components and determine acceptance for final shipment. If nonconforming results are identified during sampling, you will be responsible for promptly escalating the issue to management and supporting containment and corrective action efforts.
The Quality Inspector will also prepare First Article Inspection (FAI) and PPAP documentation for submission directly to customers or through systems such as Net-Inspect. This includes collecting data, completing required forms, and ensuring all submissions are accurate, complete, and compliant with customer requirements.
Additionally, you will oversee the company’s internal tool calibration program. This includes performing and documenting calibration activities to ensure all measurement tools used in production and inspection remain accurate, functional, and in compliance with calibration standards.
Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret customer Blueprints
- Perform in-process and final inspections on metal stampings
- Compile FAI and PPAP reports for customer approval
- Perform receiving inspection on incoming materials
- Calibration of tools and production fixtures
- Maintain quality documentation and records
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Required Skills:
- Blueprint Reading
- Use of precision measurement tools (caliper, micrometer, indicator, comparator, etc.)
- Basic computer skills
- Detail oriented, thorough, and organized
- Ability to bend, twist, stoop and reach, and lift material up to 50 pounds
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- GD&T / Metrology
- PPAP and First Article Reports
- ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / AS9100
- AIAG Core Tools (APQP, MSA, SPC, FMEA, etc.)
- Internal Auditing
- Net-inspect
- CMM experience (Zeiss / Calypso)
- Forklift Operation
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
