Heavy Equipment Operator (Experienced)
Job Summary
Precision Construction is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team on heavy civil construction projects. We are looking for operators who can safely and efficiently run equipment with minimal supervision while maintaining production, accuracy, and quality. Candidates should be comfortable working from grade stakes, site plans, and GPS systems when applicable, and take pride in delivering precise work.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate excavators, dozers, loaders, rollers, motor graders, and other heavy equipment.
- Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and earthwork in accordance with project plans and specifications.
- Read and interpret grade stakes, construction drawings, and site layouts.
- Maintain proper grade, slope, and alignment throughout construction activities.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Perform routine maintenance, including fueling, greasing, and cleaning equipment.
- Work closely with surveyors, foremen, and ground personnel to complete work safely and efficiently.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of heavy equipment operating experience on civil construction or earthwork projects.
- Proficient in operating excavators, dozers, loaders, and similar heavy equipment.
- Ability to read grade stakes, understand elevations, and work to specification.
- Experience with GPS machine control is a plus.
- Strong understanding of safe operating practices and equipment limitations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity.
- Knowledge of routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
