Position Summary
The test plate machinist supports and maintains a continuous flow of test plates in and out of the focused factories. Machinists operate CNC machines and presses to produce complex aerospace parts demonstrating advanced cross training flexibility, including first part run and full machine recovery.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The test plate machinist supports and maintains a continuous flow of test plates in and out of the focused factories. Machinists operate CNC machines and presses to produce complex aerospace parts demonstrating advanced cross training flexibility, including first part run and full machine recovery.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Collects and returns test plates from all focus factories.
- Sorts test plates by material, grip, diameter and style.
- Operates and sets-up Conventional Machine (Okuma Mill), Drill Press, and Punch Press as needed.
- Verifies tooling prior to operating machines.
- Performs complex inspection tasks to validate and respond to dimensional requirements and specifications utilizing advanced GD&T and print reading abilities.
- Proficient in machine platform operation in order to demonstrate cross training flexibility, which includes operating conventional machines at a basic level.
- Blueprint reading.
- Knowledge of inspection equipment (micrometer, gauge pins, calipers)
- Machining trouble shooting skills applied to first part runs and machine recovery.
- GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
