Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide technical, quality and production leadership to assigned team to meet quality, schedule, and cost goals
- Provide ongoing support in scheduling resources, technical leadership and facilitating the flow of hardware to meet customer requirements
- Support Team Leaders with decision making in areas of process improvement and/or production to make appropriate resource decisions (manpower, machines, methods) to facilitate the flow of hardware through the manufacturing process
- Support process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve inventory turns and reduce manufacturing losses
- Direct the activities of an hourly team within the department and participate in department activities to meet identified goals
- Perform administrative duties to support the business, including timecards, labor vouchers, self-audits, absence reviews, missing time corrections, etc.
- Coordinate all first line activities (i.e., Methods, Production Control) to assure the meeting of production schedules and customer satisfaction, cost goals, and maintaining the highest standards of quality
- Coach and counsel team members regarding individual performance and development needs
- Practice sound human relations and communications skills to motivate the work force
- Review production orders and ensure production schedules are being met
- Analyze and diagnose machine and tooling problems and takes corrective measures to minimize downtime and interruption of schedules
- Achieve highest safety levels in the plant
- Experience with implementing lean manufacturing improvements
- Employ Six Sigma rigors to all functions within the department
- Mentor and motivate team in safety, quality, and productivity improvements
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of prior supervisor / leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering preferred
- Prior experience, interpreting technical drawings and specifications to conduct testing and reporting of results; ability to disseminate complex issues in an appropriate manner to varying audiences and levels of the organization.
- Prior supervisory / leadership experience in testing or manufacturing/ Prior leadership in a technical testing environment a plus
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and bring to successful completion
- Strong team building / coaching skills
- Knowledge of testing and manufacturing operations and practices
- Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Ability to counsel and motivate team members
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Six Sigma training is preferred

- Must be able to support a 24/7 operation.
- Must have the ability to train on first shift (if applicable) along with supporting other shifts for coverage purposes as needed.
- Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment
- Must be able to lift 35 lbs. when needed
- Constantly stand and walk throughout the workdayIt is required to stand, walk & reach with hands & arms
- Good coordination to operate several controls simultaneously
- Heavy visual concentration required to reach precision measuring instruments and to observe cutting operations
- Frequent use of physical skills to operate a wide variety of machines & tools working to close tolerances
- Has use of electric cranes & hoists for lifting & moving forgings
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel material
