What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plating Operator position at Precision Castparts?
Plating Operator candidates in this position will be expected to successfully apply Post Chromate (chemical conversion coatings) to steel alloy production parts, and perform various support functions for the Plating department. Candidates in this position shall be fully familiar with various racking techniques, manual and tank chromate treatment applications, and other pre cleaning operations such as solvent cleaning and vapor degreasing. Plating Operators will also be expected to maintain terminal equipment in good working order throughout the production cycle such as repair and replacement of racking components and equipment as necessary. Candidates must be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills. Candidates must have the ability and desire to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced production environment, be resourceful and innovative along with presenting a strong business ethic and compliance to leadership and company policies, and a good communicator with the ability to represent the company in a positive manner.

- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
- Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
- Correctly access and interpret documentation (C-Specs, etc.)
- Lift up to 45lbs (Repetitive)
- Able to work overtime as needed
- Perform intermediate racking and loading of product (Basic Platting)
- Make intermediate chemical additions (Acids, Cyanides etc.)
- Perform in process inspection (X-ray Unit, etc.)
- Meet area/product specific production standards
- Complete process and operation documentation (Traceability, etc.)
- Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- The ability to read and write English.
- The ability to perform basic shop math, fractions, decimals
- The ability to use basic hand tools β wrenches etc.
- Familiarity with platting times and process charting (Digital)
- The ability to use basic inspection tools such micrometers
- The ability to navigate intranet to locate process documents - basic computer skills
- The ability to read and interpret work instructions and basic prints and dimensions
- Typically 2-3 Years
- GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
