What are the responsibilities and job description for the NDT Technician Trainee – MAG 1st Shift position at Precision Castparts?
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
- Obtain experience under direct observation of a Level 2 or Level 3 in the same method.
- Adheres to quality processes to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
- Correctly interpret work orders
- Perform basic NDT support tasks (staging work, etc.) See NAS410- 5.1.1
- Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Basic English language skills and the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions
- The ability to perform basic shop math, fractions, decimals
- The ability to use basic inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, etc.
- The ability to read and interpret work instructions and basic prints and dimensions
- Meet minimal requirement on Wyman Gordon internal assessments
- Minimal 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment; prior military experience; or technical certification / degree
- GED or High School diploma
- Successfully pass Vision, Written and Practical examinations for Level 1 or 2 in at least one method within a 12-month period.
- Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
- Constant exposure to moderate noise
- Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes, odors, hot / cold temperatures, inside / outside noise vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to work any shift including overtime, weekends and holidays if scheduled.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve (12) hours.
- Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, pushing and pulling of materials.
- Must be able to safety operate an overhead crane.
- Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
- Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
- Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Visual acuity skill to detect any flaws in the parts being inspected.
