Position Summary
The N.D.E Inspector in the pipe shop area is responsible for identifying surface and subsurface defects, conducting non-destructive testing (N.D.E) to ensure the quality of pipes in a manufacturing setting. Primary Duties And Responsibilities
The N.D.E Inspector in the pipe shop area is responsible for identifying surface and subsurface defects, conducting non-destructive testing (N.D.E) to ensure the quality of pipes in a manufacturing setting. This role involves using various testing methods, equipment, and techniques to assess the integrity and quality of finished products.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Employees must frequently lift test blocks weighing from 5# to 25#.
- Employees must use varying degree of postures to perform the job tasks associated with ultrasonic inspection. These postures include frequent dynamic standing, forward and side reaching, handling, fingering, feeling and use of near and far acuity.
- Employees must vary degree of postures to perform job tasks associated with (NDT) Non-Destructive testing inspection. These postures include climbing stairs, occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, turning, talking, and hearing to complete the job task associated with (NDT) inspection.
- Employees must vary degree of postures to perform job tasks associated with operating overhead and jib cranes associated with NDT inspection. These postures include frequent dynamic standing, forward and side reaching, handling, fingering, feeling and use of near and far acuity.
- Employees must vary degree of postures to perform job tasks associated with operating a forklift associated with NDT inspection. These postures include occasional dynamic climbing, standing, stooping, bending, forward and side reaching, handling, fingering, feeling and use of near and far acuity.

- High school diploma or GED
- Technical training or certification related to manufacturing operations is a plus.
- Additional vocational training or certification in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods preferred.
- 2-3 years of relevant N.D.E inspection experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in pipe fabrication or similar industries.
- Certification(s) in specific N.D.E techniques (e.g., ASNT Level II or III certification in UT, PT) highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using ultrasonic and penetrant testing equipment. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret test results accurately.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
