Casting Preparation & Equipment Operation

Essential Job Functions
Casting Preparation & Equipment Operation
- Preheat ovens and load molds in accordance with the casting schedule, verifying mold identification, loading position, oven temperature, and oxygen levels.
- Verify ingots against pour schedule and load alloy materials to meet production requirements.
- Operate vacuum cast furnace and related foundry equipment with attention to safety and quality.
- Maintain daily readiness of foundry equipment and consumables, including filling hot top cans, restocking kaowool pads, and changing crucibles.
- Load cup ovens, stage carts, and keep supplies organized and accessible.
- Complete and submit daily supply sheets to supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by cleaning foundry and invest areas, removing waste, and vacuuming floors and equipment.
- Assist with changeover and cleaning of tanks in the investment department.
- Record downtime and support preventive maintenance activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or manager to support overall production goals.
- This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and reach regularly throughout the work shift.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds independently.
- Good hand–eye coordination and depth perception required for safe operation of tools and equipment.
- Must be able to work in a foundry environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in foundry, metal casting, or manufacturing preferred but not required — training provided.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn specialized equipment and processes.
- Strong attention to detail with commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
