Progressive was founded and incorporated in 1971 in Arlington, Texas. Heroux-Devtek Inc. purchased Progressive in 2004 who helped to expand the site which has doubled its manufacturing footprint and more than doubled sales and employee base. Predominantly, a provider for large, highly complex machined parts, kits and assemblies for OEMs and large Tier One providers for both military and commercial market segments. Progressive is a 140,000 square foot facility.
Position Summary:
Under direct supervision, level one general fabricators perform basic fabricating tasks using jigs, fixtures, and basic hand and power tools such as saws, drills and measuring devices. They will frequently operate manual mills and CNC machines, such as the lathe, to produce sub assembly components for other areas of the plant, as well as performs basic deburr operations such as edge breaking and simple surface finishing tasks using deburr tools. They will demonstrate the ability to interpret work instructions and basic prints, as well as possess competencies in basic shop math and in-process inspection.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Understand, adhere, and demonstrate the company’s commitment to SAFETY and
- Setup and full operation of several different assets within the plant, such as the manual mill, CNC lathe, and 3-axis vertical mills. Tasks to be performed include (but not limited to):
- Loading and unloading fixtures, jigs, and vises onto mill beds, and chucks onto lathe machines.
- Indication of dimensional features on aluminum and titanium parts to perform tight-tolerance fabrication and rework.
- Basic programming modifications to produce tight-tolerance bushings per blueprint drawings and job planning.

Perform basic visual and mechanical in-process inspection operations to ensure fabricated components meet customer specifications and blueprint drawings. Tools to be used include (but not limited to):
- Micrometers, Depth Mics, Calipers, Bore Gages, and Ring Gages

Operate hand and power tools such as saws, drills and grinders.
- Perform bench tasks that meet customer specifications, such as mismatch allowances, surface finish requirements, and thickness dimensions per blueprint drawings.
- Validating the health of all tools and components required to do the assigned task.
- Maintain company 6S standards within area (Sort, Set in Order, Standardize, Shine, Sustain, Safety).
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Required Skills:
- The ability to use basic hand tools and fabricating tools such as drills, saws, templates, jigs and fixtures.
- The ability to use basic inspection tools such as scales, micrometers, calipers and feeler gauges to complete required inspection procedures.
- Have basic knowledge of CNC machines and manual mills.

Experience & Education:
- This position requires no previous experience, but experience working with mechanical processes and methods is preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience.
- GED/High School diploma or equivalent.
Physical Demands & Working Condition:
- May be required to move items up to 35 pounds.
- Daily duties may require sitting, standing, bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, operating, and manipulating hand tools.
