Position Summary:
The Cost Accounting Analyst is responsible for analyzing, tracking, and reporting on costs associated with production, operations, and business activities. This role supports strategic decision-making by providing insights into cost efficiency, variance analysis, and financial performance. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. Duties entail:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze and monitor standard costs, actual costs, and variances.
- Prepare and maintain cost accounting records, reports, and reconciliations.
- Conduct variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and provide actionable insights.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of standard costing systems.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to understand cost drivers.
- Perform inventory analysis, including valuation and reconciliation.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Prepare financial models and forecasts related to cost structures.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies.
- Provide support to Finance staff and assist in resolving issues that arise in these areas with minimal supervision
- Assist in Sarbanes Oxley compliance activities. Learns SOX Corporate requirements and maintains records to comply with said requirements
- Other duties and projects as assigned to meet department/facility goals.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on attention to detail balanced with a big picture focus.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret financial data with an understanding of GAAP and regulatory requirements as well as company policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Ability to identify and research accounting issues independently and communicate conclusions effectively both verbally and in written form.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or related role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification.
- Experience in manufacturing or product-based environments.
- Familiarity with cost accounting systems and inventory management.
