Job Summary:
We are seeking a self-sufficient laboratory technician responsible for the calibration, verification, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical lab equipment which includes pipettes, analytical balances, shakers, and other sensitive devices. This role ensures equipment reliability, supports lab personnel with technical issues, and maintains accurate documentation to meet internal quality and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine calibration, verification, and preventive maintenance on pipettes, analytical balances, centrifuges, thermometers, and other laboratory equipment
- Execute preventative maintenance activities, validation procedures, and maintain calibration schedules
- Maintain accurate calibration records, service logs, and maintenance documentation
- Diagnose and resolve basic equipment issues, escalating complex problems to vendors when needed
- Support lab personnel in using equipment correctly and safely
- Perform basic repairs, cleaning, and adjustments
- Maintain inventory of spare parts, calibration supplies, and consumables
- Help identify opportunities for process improvements and equipment upgrades
- Familiarity with metrology concepts (accuracy, precision, tolerances, uncertainty)
- Ability to read and follow SOPs and equipment manuals
- Assist in the creation or revision of SOPs related to equipment use, handling, and maintenance
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Experience coordinating with external calibration vendors.
- Follow all laboratory methods, protocols and SOPs as well as company procedures, guidelines, and policies
- Collaboratively perform other duties as needed to support company goals; may include providing back-up to lab staff and/or lab leader
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience working in a laboratory setting
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and strong attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills; the ability to communicate (verbal/writing) effectively at all levels and with all customers, internally and externally
- Dependable and punctual; ability to work flexible hours, including late nights and/or weekends as needed
- Positive teamwork-oriented attitude; champion for our people, culture, company, and brand
Work Environment:
This position is located in an office/lab environment with frequent use of laboratory instruments and tools, computer and related hardware. A person must be able to stand and/or sit and effectively move around the building and lab workspaces; see, hear and talk; use hands to type, handle or feel tools or controls; use hands and arms to reach.
This position requires lifting up to 25lbs, and use of PPE when working with urine, saliva, or other samples, or with chemicals and other substances, within our lab environment.
