Job Summary
Contract 1099 Seasonal Position. Mid September-December Fall Harvest
The field technician will be responsible for the collection of GPS data and geo-referenced soil/tissue samples for customers (agricultural retailers, farm managers, etc.). Utilizing ATV's, tablets, mobile applications (precision software platforms), GPS equipment and hand tools is a part of the daily operation. Attention to detail, communication and organization are paramount for the success of the position. Some computer skills are necessary.
The ideal candidate will have some experience/knowledge in any field of agriculture, preferably in row/cash crops or crop protection/production. Working conditions will vary greatly due to the scope and schedule/season of the work taking place. The technician will be outdoors in fields and weather may be inclement (extreme) at times. Willingness to travel in rural areas will be necessary. College students interested in precision agriculture are a good fit; persons who are retired and in good physical health are ideal as well. Individuals with a good work ethic and flexible schedules can be very successful. Successful Individuals will be kept on for further sampling sessions the following Spring and Summer seasons.
Some equipment will be provided, but the contractor will need to provide basic tools to complete the work. An ATV can be provided/leased by Precision.Ag, LLC for the work seasons. Ownership of a suitable ATV allows for higher pay for the technician.
Requirements include: valid driver's license, full size truck (or vehicle to trailer an ATV), mobile phone with reliable service for the area
- At the time, this is a contractor (1099) position and benefits will not be provided. Pay can be very lucrative for a seasonal position.
This position will ideally be located in and travel within the Findlay, Ottawa, and Hamler, Ohio area depending on the location of the work. Travel Distances within and hour, with max an hour and a half usually. Some cases may call for longer trips if work order is accepted by field technician.
