Analytical Chemist

Precise Systems seeks a Chemist with at least 2-3 years of analytical chemistry experience using liquid-chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). This position utilizes several different analytical techniques (HPLC, LC-MS, MALDI, etc.) to assess peptides and other small molecules and requires dedicated problem-solving and keen attention to detail. Additionally, this role will involve some peptide synthesis and purification, so related or similar experience is preferred. The successful applicant will also possess a demonstrated aptitude for working both independently and in collaboration with other team members, as this position can span multiple disciplines to include biologists, chemists, chemical engineers, material scientists, etc.

This role requires in-person support

Duties:

• Perform chemical analysis including HPLC, LC-MS, MALDI, UV-Vis, etc. to quantify and qualify product identity, yield and purity.
• Responsible for routine maintenance of lab equipment and coordinating repairs with outside companies.
• Keep detailed records of laboratory operations and compile data in regular technical reports.
• Assist with peptide synthesis and purification.

Required Education:

• B.S. or M.S. in chemistry, biology or related field experience

Required Experience:

• 1-2 years (M.S.) or 3-4 years (B.S.) of lab chemistry experience.
• Strong analytical chemistry experience (HPLC, LC-MS, MALDI, etc.).
• Peptide handling and analysis experience
• Document in laboratory notebooks, authorship of technical reports and standard operating procedures
• Ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary team including biologists, engineers, and other chemists.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for audiences with varying technical backgrounds
• Effective time management skills; self-starter; attention to detail
• Ability to independently design and execute experiments; critical thinking/problem solving

Desired Experience:

• Peptide synthesis experience
• Small molecule handling and analysis experience
• Interdisciplinary science experience (i.e. biochemistry, chemical biology, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply topics outside their area of expertise

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $56,028.11 - $79,324.12 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
