Vice President, Medical Affairs
We are seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Vice President of Medical Affairs to lead clinical strategy, quality, and provider performance across a rapidly growing, multi-state behavioral health platform.
Precise Behavioral (Precise) was established to revolutionize the behavioral healthcare ecosystem for patients, providers, and health plans. Precise is a physician-owned and led organization that enables a mix of digital, telehealth, in-person, and community resources for improved patient outcomes.
This executive will oversee a distributed team of Medical Directors and clinicians supporting inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient services, and emergency telemedicine programs nationwide. This role uniquely blends executive leadership with ongoing clinical practice, ensuring that organizational strategy remains grounded in real-world patient care while helping shape innovative digital care delivery solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in setting and executing the national clinical vision for behavioral health services across inpatient, outpatient, telemedicine, and digital care settings
- Partner with executive leadership to align clinical strategy with growth, operations, and product development
- Serve as the senior clinical voice in organizational decision-making Digital Behavioral Health & Product Collaboration
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the organization’s digital behavioral health application, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practices and high standards of care
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to inform development of digital tools, clinical decision support, and patient engagement features
- Translate clinical workflows into scalable, technology-enabled solutions
- Ensure usability and clinical relevance for both patients and providers
- Establish clinical protocols, guardrails, and content standards within the digital platform
- Support evaluation of product performance using clinical outcomes, engagement metrics, and user feedback
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and privacy standards related to digital health (e.g., HIPAA, telehealth regulations)
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Medical Directors across multiple states
- Establish clear expectations, performance metrics, and accountability structures
- Ensure consistency in clinical standards, documentation, and care delivery across all sites
- Oversee clinical quality programs, including outcomes tracking, peer review, and performance improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, state regulations)
- Lead risk management efforts in collaboration with legal and compliance teams Multi-State Clinical Operations
- Provide oversight for: Inpatient behavioral health units, Outpatient psychiatric services, Emergency / crisis telepsychiatry programs, Digital and virtual care delivery models
- Navigate regulatory variability across states, including licensure, scope of practice, and telehealth requirements
- Support scalable clinical models for national expansion
- Partner with recruiting and operations to support physician and APP staffing strategies based on demand
- Work strategically on capacity planning, drive provider engagement, retention, and professional development
- Establish clinical onboarding, training, and continuing education programs, including training on digital tools and platforms Clinical Hours (Patient Care) ( up to 70% of role)
- Maintain regular clinical practice (e.g., inpatient rounding, outpatient clinic, or telepsychiatry shifts)
- Use frontline experience to inform policy, workflows, and product innovation Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Product and Technology teams to inform clinical tools, telehealth platforms, and digital application development
- Partner with Operations to optimize care delivery and site performance
- Support Business Development with clinical expertise in partnerships and growth initiatives
Qualifications:
- MD or DO required
- Board Certified in Psychiatry
- Active CA License (or ability to obtain) multi-state licensure
- Minimum 10 years of clinical experience in behavioral health
- 5 years in progressive leadership roles (Medical Director, Regional Medical Director, etc.)
- Experience overseeing distributed, multi-state provider teams
- Experience working with or supporting digital health products or telehealth platforms strongly preferred
- Familiarity with inpatient psychiatry, outpatient care, telepsychiatry, CSU, and digital care delivery models
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, quality metrics, and accreditation standards

Pay: $300,000.00 - $350,000.00 per year
