What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teen Shelter Services Part Time Milieu Specialist position at PREBLE STREET?
The Teen Center is currently seeking a temporary Milieu Caseworker to work as part of the Teen Services team. Teen Services is open 24/7 365 days a year and provides services to youth ages 12-20. This position will work within the Preble Street Teen Center and the Joe Kreisler Teen Shelter.
- Milieu Caseworkers work as part of a dynamic team, providing and collaborating on casework services to youth experiencing homelessness; staffing the Teen Center and Joe Kreisler Teen Shelter to provide basic services, information and referral; and providing crisis intervention in a low-barrier setting.
- The schedule for this position is Friday-Monday from 3pm-9pm.
Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with one year of relevant social work experience.
Qualified candidates must also possess the skills and knowledge to effectively work with youth experiencing homelessness toward securing safe, stable housing; a commitment to the mission of Preble Street; positive regard for community members accessing homeless services; and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Eligibility for employment with Teen Services also requires that staff be at least 21 years of age; undergo and pass a physical examination, which includes a test for TB; hold certification or become certified in First Aid (on-site training opportunities offered); provide proof of education (diploma or transcript); and have acceptable background check results. Teen Services staff also must attend recurrent, regularly-scheduled trainings, which are provided on-site.
Compensation
This position offers competitive pay at a rate of $23.12 per hour.
