What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor VHS Lewiston position at PREBLE STREET?
Preble Street’s Veteran Housing Services (VHS) provides services and supports toward overcoming barriers to finding and maintaining housing to veterans throughout Maine. With funding from the U.S. Dept. of Veteran Affairs Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF), the VHS program offers case management; employment, benefit, and resource referrals; intensive housing counseling; and direct financial assistance for housing to veterans who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
The VHS program is seeking a Supervisor to join their team. The Supervisor works from the Lewiston office, and supervises the casework team, oversees and manages the day-to-day program tasks, and participates in providing direct services to veterans.
The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Qualifications:Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study, 3 years of relevant management and/or supervisory experience, and experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and mental health and substance use related conditions; or comparable combination of education and relevant experience.
Additional requirements include the ability to lead, supervise, and direct the work of staff; strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills; ability to work with and maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations; understanding of and alignment with Preble Street’s mission; and commitment to providing low-barrier, high-quality services to people experiencing homelessness; and strong organizational and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Compensation and Benefits
This full-time position offers an hourly rate of $29.19 as well as generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits include:
- 4 weeks (160 hours, accrued) vacation time, 12 days (96 hours, accrued) sick time, 32 hours personal time, 12 Paid Holidays
