Job Description
Job Goal: To assist the Media Specialist in maintaining appropriate media center activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certificate.
Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed.
Have at least two years of study (60 semester hours or 100 quarter hours) above the remedial level with a grade of “C” or better at a professional Standards Commission approved accredited institute of higher education; or
Earned an associate degree or higher or
Passed the State approved paraprofessional exam.
Responsibilities:
Prompt and regular attendance.
Creates and fosters a climate that encourages effective use of media facilities, resources, and services.
Supports users of media center services and resources.
Supports students to locate appropriate library resources.
Assists students how to effectively use the library.
Selects media based on the needs of the instructional program and the individual users.
Order and receive new library resources.
Manages all media inventory.
Secures books or other instructional materials from the school library.
Shelving books and other library materials
Set up, issues, and run multimedia equipment
Produces locally designed materials for and with students and instructional staff.
Prepares bulletin boards.
Assist in supervising pupils before, during and after school
Performs such other duties as assigned by Principal.
Physical Requirements:
Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:
Medium Work: Exerting 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.
Terms of Employment:
Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on classified evaluation.
