Position Summary: The Legal Intern is responsible for assisting the Compliance and Legal Department with projects to help meet the legal and compliance needs of the Company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in research of federal, state, and local policies, orders, laws, court decisions, guidance, regulations, and pending legislation with potential impact on the industry and the Company.
- Assists in reviews of documents including procedures, correspondence, memorandums of law, and contracts.
- Assists in drafting legal memos, policies, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong organizational and computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and internet search engines).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Creative thinker demonstrating a high level of attention and resourcefulness.
- A self-starter with ability to work well with minimal supervision.
- A team player with ability to work well with others.
- Flexibility to adjust to a rapidly changing environment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma is required.
- Currently enrolled and pursuing an undergraduate or law degree.
- Interest in healthcare law, policy, and compliance is a plus.
