What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Originations position at Praxt Talent?
Head of Originations – Real Estate Private Credit
What You’ll Own
You’re leading origination from end to end—sourcing deals, building relationships, structuring transactions, and deploying capital within a disciplined investment mandate. This platform already manages over $900 million in assets and is targeting further growth across property types and markets.
You’ll take charge of the entire origination lifecycle, managing pipeline and pace, while expanding strategic relationships across the country. You’ll shape how the team sources, underwrites, and structures complex credit deals—from construction loans to mezzanine and preferred equity.
Your Day-to-Day

- Source commercial real estate credit investments aligned with fund goals
- Maintain a network of high-producing intermediaries: brokers, sponsors, mortgage bankers
- Uncover deal flow across multifamily, industrial, office, and niche asset classes
- Represent the platform in-market and on stage—conferences, events, panels
Structuring & Execution
- Lead negotiation and execution of bridge loans, construction debt, mezz, and pref equity
- Partner with internal teams across underwriting, legal, and asset management
- Prioritize the pipeline, streamline communication, and eliminate bottlenecks
- Stay fluent in debt market dynamics: pricing, structures, risk spreads, competitor behavior
Leadership & Team Strategy
- Manage and mentor a lean origination team—set the standard and scale it
- Define processes that improve speed-to-close without compromising rigor
- Collaborate with capital markets and portfolio leadership on allocation and pacing
- Co-develop new origination verticals, borrower types, or capital solutions
Firmwide Impact
- Feed insights directly into investor relations and fundraising messaging
- Identify underexploited market segments or geographies for expansion
- Contribute to shaping future products and credit strategy
What It Takes
- 10 years in real estate debt origination, ideally within a private credit or non-bank platform
- Closed over $500M in aggregate deal volume
- Deep network of repeat borrowers, brokers, and industry partners
- Comfortable underwriting risk across different capital stack positions
- Confident in the complexity of structured deals and entrepreneurial enough to build something better
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree welcomed
Compensation
- Base salary performance bonus
- Equity and/or carried interest available
- Full suite of benefits: health, retirement, wellness
This is for someone who doesn’t just execute—but scales. Someone who’s closed volume at pace but is still hungry to shape the next version of a platform.
